About the event
Spring is the best time to plan a new garden! Let's discover how growing plants with children, in any size plot or container, nurtures our minds, bodies, and development in the day home setting. We will explore meaningful ways that children can be engaged in gardening, from planting seeds to harvesting flowers, vegetables and more. Both general and specific topics, including how to grow a sunflower house and beanpole tepee, will be covered. With a little planning, children can be invited into the garden rather than asked to stay out.
Learning Outcomes:
● Identify which plants grow well in Alberta’s climate (and which to avoid)
● Discover how to plan, plant, and harvest a garden with children
● Learn different garden setup’s that draw children in
● Explore how children can use the garden for play opportunities
