About the event
Working with children is often delightful, but managing challenging behaviours can be difficult. In the first part of this session, we will start by reviewing the factors contributing to behaviours that are concerning and problematic. After exploring childcare settings and structure including the environment, rhythm and routine, and children’s needs, we will discuss the behaviours themselves. Asking, “Is this actually a problematic behaviour? Is it developmentally appropriate? Do I need to intervene?” lays the foundation for going forward with a clear head and best practice intentions.
While participants will benefit most from registering for both sessions, they can be taken independently.
Learning Outcomes:
● Discover the factors that can contribute to challenging behaviours
● Reflect on behaviors that are developmentally appropriate
● Consider whether a behaviour needs guidance - how problematic is it?
